I study how we think about our own minds and other people’s minds. Even though we can’t directly see what’s going on in someone else’s mind, we often make pretty good inferences about what they might be thinking about, and even though we might never have broken our thumb, we might be able to make a pretty good inference about what that feels like. My work expands the scope of Theory of Mind inferences that our computational framework can capture, going beyond mental states like beliefs and desires to mental processes like thinking and subjective experiences like pain.
